7. The Lost Colony

In 1587, a group of English men, women, and children discovered Roanoke Island and claimed the land as a permanent English settlement in the New World. Three years on and English ships arrived to bring supplies, They found the island deserted with no sign of the colonists. What happened is still a mystery today. The Lost Colony has been reenacting these events for over 30 years. The annual summer performances brings together over 100 actors, dancers, singers, and technicians who create a magical evening for the whole family.

8. Ghost Crabbing

If you’re coming on a family vacation, you can’t go home without spending an evening hunting ghost crabs. Atlantic ghost crabs are found along the quieter beaches of the Atlantic coast.
